The Taft Homes History
Although Taft is a variant of an English surname that means “homestead, site of a house,” the company name, Taft Homes, pays homage to the memory of founder Steve Langridge’s late father, Cyril “Cy” Langridge. Cy worked for the Chicago-based Taft Contracting as a millwright his entire career, up until retirement. Cy loved working for the company and shared this passion with his family — he often spoke about his love for his craft and demonstrated a strong work ethic, a commitment to quality and a “do-the-right-thing” attitude. Taft Homes embodies Cy’s core beliefs and commits to serving the buyer the way Steve’s father approached his craft, his family and his friends each day.

Steve Langridge
Upon his relocation to Dallas Fort Worth, Steve, a Gulf War Veteran, began his homebuilding career in 1993 embarking upon multiple roles in the homebuilding industry. Armed with knowledge he learned from working for a top five national public company — where he led large teams — to serving as the president of a large private builder, Steve launched Taft Homes. His expertise was instrumental in forming this next-generation home building company where the product offering serves the needs of many buyers across multiple segments. As a home building expert, Steve plans to grow Taft Homes into a market leader delivering attainable and quality residences that meet every need of today’s buyer.
